EMDR

Helps your brain process traumatic memories so they stop hurting

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. It sounds unusual, but it’s one of the most evidence-backed therapies for trauma. While thinking about a distressing memory, you follow the therapist’s finger (or a light) from side to side. This bilateral stimulation appears to help the brain reprocess the memory, so it no longer triggers the same strong reaction. You don’t need to talk through the trauma in detail.
