Behavioural Activation is a focused, evidence-based approach for depression. It works on the insight that when we feel low, we withdraw from activities — which makes us feel worse, which leads to more withdrawal. By gradually reintroducing meaningful and pleasurable activities, even when motivation is absent, mood begins to lift. It’s often used as a standalone treatment or as part of CBT.
